Our Honorable President
This is the Honorable President of Sri Lanka who was voted in by more than 3.8 million people. This is one of the pictures which was published in Sunday Leader news paper. He is supposed to have done this act during his visit to India. Even before this picture and the article was published, Mr. Rajapakse, the honorable President had called the editor of the news paper and, let me put it this way so that this blog should not have to be categorized as an adult only web site, told Mr Lasantha Wickramathunga that his (Lasantha's) mother is a sex worker (trying my best to be diplomatic here) and that he (Lasantha) should go and have sexual intercourse with his (Lasantha's) mother. What a president and what a temperament he has. My friends, this one goes to you who voted for him. Cheers!

i stumbled upon your blog today, it is very, very interesting. You also seem very informed about things that happen in sri lanka...something i am ashamed to say i am not.
i'm a university student in melbourne, and my interest in your blog has two main reasons:
1. i have an essay to write about how the internet is used for activism. and was wondering if you knew of any examples particular to sri lanka where the web has been used to organise/initiate events - good or bad. i mean apart from generally informing people of what's happening.
2. on a rather unrelated point. do you know of a need for teachers in sri lanka...or volunteer/ngo programs that need teachers/aid workers. i am looking for such a position for next year...but am having great difficulty finding information - i seem to only come across teaching positions that are of the eco-tourism type - i.e. where you pay to go live with a village family or something like that. i know it seems a bit random to ask you this..but like i said you seem to know about stuff that happens in sri lanka, and it never hurts to ask.

Heh love your blog. I didn't come across this on Sunday Leader, but I imagine Lasantha is probably used to such insults.
PS: Update your blog on a regular basis. Its rare that I come across a Sri Lankan blog that is as interesting as this one.

I'm not so sure about the truth of this story, because the paper he's refering to is really one big pile of bull shit.
I don't know why you are so fond of "Mr" Lasantha Wickramathunga. I believe he's one of the biggest traitors of Sri Lanka of Modern times. Do you know that even Tamilnet now refers to his paper in some articles.

I don't know if you ever listened to his interview with Anton Balasinghem after the Oslo talks. There it was very clear for whom he works for..
I'm not saying the government is correct in anyway.
